Drive new partnerships across a fast-growing, diversified industrial group (mining, logistics, construction, finance & tech)

Job description

About the Role

As our Business Development Representative, you'll be the engine behind new partnerships and business growth across the MSBC group. You'll identify, approach, and onboard fleet operators, manufacturers, suppliers, engineering firms, developers and technology partners — building the relationships that keep our six subsidiaries supplied, connected and growing.

This is a high-impact, outward-facing role for someone who thrives on the hunt: prospecting, opening doors, building trust, and converting conversations into signed partnerships.

What You'll Do

  • Prospect and generate new business leads across mining, construction, logistics, and infrastructure sectors in South Africa and the broader region

  • Identify and qualify potential partners - fleet operators, materials suppliers, manufacturers, contractors, developers, and engineering firms — aligned to each MSBC subsidiary's needs

  • Conduct outbound outreach via calls, email, LinkedIn, and site visits to build a strong, consistent partnership pipeline

  • Own the early sales cycle: initiate contact, qualify fit, schedule meetings, and hand off warm opportunities to senior stakeholders and division leads for closing

  • Build and maintain a CRM pipeline, tracking outreach, conversations, and partnership status with accurate, up-to-date records

  • Collaborate closely with division leads across Logistics, Mining, Finance, Technology and Construction to understand supply needs and tailor outreach accordingly

  • Represent MSBC at industry events, trade shows and site visits, building the group's profile and network

  • Negotiate initial partnership terms in coordination with senior leadership, ensuring alignment with MSBC's standards for quality, safety, and compliance

  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify new partnership opportunities and whitespace

  • Report regularly on pipeline health, conversion rates, and partnership outcomes to leadership

What we offer

  • Competitive base salary + uncapped commission/incentive structure tied to new partnerships secured

  • The opportunity to shape partnerships across six growing businesses, not just one

  • A fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with real ownership over your pipeline

  • Direct exposure to senior leadership and division heads across the group

  • Career growth as MSBC continues to scale across Southern Africa

Job requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in business development, sales, or partnerships ideally within mining, construction, logistics, infrastructure, or industrial B2B sectors

  • A proven track record of generating and converting new business leads

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills

  • Confident, self-starting, and comfortable with a high volume of outbound prospecting

  • Strong organizational skills and comfort working with CRM tools (e.g. HubSpot, Pipedrive, Zoho, or similar)

  • Understanding of (or strong willingness to learn) South Africa's mining, construction and logistics landscape

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for site visits, meetings, and industry events

  • A results-driven mindset with resilience to handle rejection and keep the pipeline moving

Nice to have:

  • Existing network of contacts in mining, construction, freight/logistics, or related industrial sectors

  • Experience working within a multi-business or holding-company structure

  • Familiarity with B-BBEE, OHS Act compliance, and procurement processes in South African industrial sectors
